I admit, I don't quite get why people are having candlelight services during Christmas.
Over the past few days, I've seen pictures popping up on Facebook with couples holding candles in their hands in candlelight services. I can't but feel slightly amused.
Pardon my ignorance, but aren't candles used for memorial services? You know, for people who have died during 9-11, for martyrs... ?
Christmas is supposed to be a time of celebration... to celebrate the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ. It's not Good Friday and Easter Sunday where we remember the death and resurrection of Jesus.
Perhaps some churches are having candlelight services because it's just too much fun and looks so cool to carry candles... never mind that the symbolism is all wrong...
